THEROPODS
* Theropods, is a dinosaur clade that is characterized by hollow bones and three-toed limbs.
* The majority of theropod teeth are blade-like, with serration on the edges called ziphodont.
* Size (Meters)
Spinosaurus aegyptiacus - 15 m
Giganotosaurus carolinii - 13.2 m
Tyrannosaurus rex - 12.3 m
Mapusaurus roseae - 12.2 m
Carcharodontosaurus saharicus - 12 m
Epanterias amplexus - 12 m
Deinocheirus mirificus - 11m
* Tyrannosaurus was for many decades the largest known theropod and best known to the general public. Later discovery of giant carnivorous support the idea that Spinosaurus is longer than Tyrannosaurus, showing that Spinosaurus was possibly 3 meters longer than Tyrannosaurus though Tyrannosaurus could still be more massive than Spinosaurus.
* The theropods were the only dinosaurs to get continuously smaller, and that their skeletons changed four times as fast as those of other dinosaur species.
* Eg are bipedal carnivores like T. rex, Velociraptor, Compsognathus, and Deinonychus
* Birds evolved from a group of meat-eating dinosaur called theropods. These ancient birds looked quite a lot like small, feathered dinosaurs and they had much in common. Their mouths still contained sharp teeth.
