DOMESTIC SHEEP

One of the earliest animals to be domesticated for agricultural purposes, sheep are raised for fleeces, meat and milk. A sheep's wool is the most widely used animal fiber, and is usually harvested by shearing.

They are usually very quiet and gentle, holding themselves aloof from the world. In a herd, all the sheep tend to listen to their leaders and show esteem to them. Because of the obedient character, sheep are among the most popular animals beloved by mankind.

DIET

Sheep are herbivorous mammals. Sheep can eat a variety of foods, ranging from low-quality grasses to high-quality twigs and shrubs. Sheep tend to prefer plants that are young and tender.

LIFESPAN

The life expectancy of sheep is similar to large breeds of dogs, about 10 to 12 years.
